Within the next few weeks, our renovation project will begin.
Our plan is to renovate/reconfigure the existing first floor kitchen, bathroom, 3rd bedroom.
The existing kitchen is tiny and poorly laid out. It's difficult for more than one person to cook, clean, or even walk to the breakfast table.
The existing bathroom is ugly. After 50+ years of hard water the plumbing it is time to put it out of it’s misery.
With the size of computers getting smaller, we no longer need a large office. I am an Interior Designer, my husband is a graphic designer, and Pugsley is a pug. We all have high expectations, but our feet are firmly planted in reality... AKA the budget!
we are going to demo the existing bathroom. The former bathroom area will become part of the kitchen area. Voila! There is now space to increase the size of the tiny kitchen. The existing office will become a large master bath/laundry room. Are we crazy to turn our 3 bedroom 2 bathroom home into a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom home?

Where to start? How to avoid a decorating mistake. Timing is everything!
I've been helping out a friend with her condo decor. SO far we have painted her living room, kitchen, dining area.
This weekend we are going to choose new carpeting for her bedrooms, hallway, and staircase. We are also going to choose a color for her bedroom.
It's important, when working with a budget to use your head.
There are only so many decent inexpensive carpets out there...
There are thousands of paint colors to choose from.
Therefore it is easier to find a paint to compliment your carpet choice than it is to find a carpet (with in your budget) that compliments your paint color choice. One should choose the carpet first, then choose the paint color NOT the other way around!

Life with a pug can be happy and fun filled. Almost everyone loves a pug. We took Pugsley to visit Bill's father when he was in the nursing home. He had lots of fans there.
We take Pugsley almost anywhere dogs are allowed. They love him at my local Apple store, and even at airport! He's comic relief. He never fails to get a smile out of people who may be a little grumpy or board.
paintings by Frank Hanavan
My brother Frank Hanavan is a painter. Some say he's a painters painter. He's out there every day on the street painting what he sees. One summer he broke his right arm, he painted with this left arm.

He's also a fun, smart, handsome and single... He is one of the great joys of my life.
